Unity Intergroup Mission Statement
The primary purpose of Unity Intergroup of Overeaters Anonymous is to carry the message of recovery to those with the problem of eating compulsively, by fostering the practice of the twelve steps and twelve traditions of Overeaters Anonymous, guided by the twelve concepts of OA service; and to serve and represent member groups and /or intergroups.
What is an Intergroup?
When several Overeaters Anonymous groups form in an area, they soon realize that they can better perform certain functions together rather than separately. So the groups may form an intergroup that is directly responsible to the groups it serves. Intergroups spring from a need to provide service for a number of local groups and better information about OA in a community (adapted from OA Handbook for Members, Groups, Intergroups).

- Providing information about OA and the local meetings
- Keeping groups informed about each other and upcoming OA events
- Coordinating speakers, public information/public outreach, and contact with the professional community
- Maintaining a supply of OA/AA literature
- Sending delegates to regional assemblies and the World Service Business Conference
